Marilyn Churchill, award-winning artist and writer, is the creator of Mystic Heroine Adventures®, a company devoted to entertaining girls and women with books and products that inspire them to live the creative, self-empowered life of their dreams.
As a young child, Marilyn loved to read and draw and make up stories for her friends; assigning roles and dialog, and directing them in elaborate productions.
After receiving a B.A. in Fine Arts from Wheaton College, Marilyn was employed as an illustrator of children’s books and periodicals. In 1980, she became one of the very first computer artists, pioneering the animation department at Atari games; creating and art directing titles for many well known clients which included Walt Disney, CTW Muppets, DC Comics, and Steven Spielberg. Later, she specialized in children’s educational software, creating titles in partnership with Fisher-Price Toys, McGraw-Hill, The Learning Company and others.
In 2001, anxious to fully express her own creative vision, Marilyn began work on Mystic Heroine Adventures; stories and images that had been percolating in her dreams and imagination over a lifetime. Two years later, she married Keith Schuler, who became actively involved in helping her design the storylines and characters for Mystic Heroine Adventures.
It's a partnership made in heaven.” Marilyn says. “We have so much fun plotting storylines! We are both very strong-minded, but nothing is final until we both agree upon it. Sometimes that means leaving old ideas behind and coming up with something completely new. Now, that's an adventure!"
So, how many books are there in the Mystic Heroine Adventures® series? "We have 5 books queued up and dozens of beautiful products in the works," Marilyn says. "And there is no end in sight!"
